The Boeing B-314A Clipper NC 18602 became the first of its type to carry paying passengers from the mainland of the United States across the Pacific to Hawaii. The "California Clipper" is shown making an evening departure from its Pan Am base at Pearl City near Honolulu. An overnight flight on a sleeper equipped Boeing Clipper was the ultimate in romantic, adventurous and luxurious travel.
