During the Berlin Airlift of 1948-1949, Eagle aviation, founded by Harold Bamberg, provided this ex RAF Halifax Mk VIII for the effort. A regular occurrence was the harassment flights flown by the Russians. The bright red transport would have been an irresistible target for these two Russian YAK-9 fighters.
