Seversky Salute

During the 1937 Bendix Trophy race, Frank Fuller in his Seversky SEV-S2 passed Paul Mantz in his Lockheed Orion with a friendly wing waggle and a wave after they crossed the Mississippi River. This is the only time two aircraft saw each other during the history of the race. Fuller would go on to win the trophy with a speed of 258.2 mph, while Mantz would finish in third place with a speed of 206.579 mph.
