This painting is based on photos taken during a visit to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station as the guest of fellow ASAA and resident U.S. Navy artist Doug Rowe. It was very exciting to be out on a working flight line, 50 years after my time as a USAF C-141 Starlifter mechanic at McChord AFB in Tacoma Washington. I miss the smell of jet fuel. Everyone at the air station was extremely patient with our many questions and very welcoming. This EA-18G "Growler", an electronic "jammer" and air defense suppression version of the F-18 "Hornet" was one of the few with colorful markings.
